The Daily Special: Last Post of the School Year

We did it! We made it to the end. Congratulations! 

For our last video of the year, we made one last Daily Special video to celebrate all we accomplished.
Have a great summer! 

Mrs. Clayton's last day at UES was last Wednesday. Things happening in the world seem tough and weird and maybe even a little scary. She created one last message for you to remember when things feel bad. Enjoy! and Goodbye! 

Lastly, we do not want to leave you empty-handed for the summer. We want you to know that The Daily Special will stay active over the summer, and you can come back ANYTIME to do the activities we posted. We have included links below to make searching by subject a little easier for you:

Hello everyone! This is the last week that I get to be your music teacher. I have had such a great time preparing these lessons for you!

Week of May 11-15: Tuneful Tuesday #5

Hello everyone!

Our learning continues in learning about orchestral instruments for K-1 and ukulele studies for grades 2-4.
Remember, our new learning is based on learning from prior weeks. Check out the earlier music weeks if you missed anything :-).

Also, don't forget to check out the Sweet Treats, as well! They are for all ages and can be done whenever you want :-).

If you hav anything special that you would like to share, please let me know! We have so many talented young musicians and artists at UES, and I would love to share what YOU are doing at home!

Week of May 4-10: Tuneful Tuesday #4

Hello everyone! Make sure you are getting outside and enjoying this beautiful weather. And when you are done, come make some music with me!

Some of this week's music activities will continue the work of prior weeks. If you think you might have missed a prior activity, please use the labels "Music" or "Tuneful Tuesday" to help you find just the music blog posts, and you can access everything from there.

I also have some fun and engaging music learning opportunities that are stand-along activities. Look for the section labeled For All Grades. I'll update this weekly with fresh activities for all ages.

Office hours are now on Tuesdays from 11 am- 1pm, and you can talk directly with me through Google Meet, and HERE is the link. (It's also at the top of the page, too!). You can stop in to introduce yourself, sing me a song, show me something musical or has a cool sound from your house. Just make sure your parents know you are signing into Google Meets first!!

Week of April 27- May 1: Tuneful Tuesday #3



Welcome back from your "stay-cation!"

We are continuing our focus on musical instruments. This week will build off the work from Week 2, so if you missed doing it, please go back and do week 2 first.

Overview

Grades K/1: We are continuing to learn about orchestral instruments.This week's focus is the woodwind family, and its instruments: flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon (and maybe some others hiding in there, too!).

For grades 2, 3, 4: We are learning/ reviewing basic chords on the ukulele and a strumming pattern.

Lastly: If you have done the assigned work, check out this week's "Sweet Treat," a musical offering that's just too good to pass up!

As a reminder, all specialists have office hours. I am available Monday- Friday 11am- 1pm. Please feel free to email me at jessicaclayton@mpsvt.org, and if you want to meet over video, I can schedule a time for us to do that as well. Have a wonderful week!

Week of April 13-17, Tuneful Tuesday #2: It's Instrumental To Your Education (four families, ukulele)

Dear UES students! 

This week's music offerings are focused around instruments. 

Overview 

For grades K and 1: 
We are starting to learn about orchestral instruments.
This week's focus is the symphony orchestra, and its four families. 

For Grades 2, 3, and 4:
We are learning/ reviewing the fascinating instrument, ukulele.

Week of April 6-10, Tuneful Tuesday #1: Getting To Know You!

Hello everyone!

This is Mrs. Clayton, and I am so excited to be working with all you hoot-tastic UES students! 

Today's video is me singing a song from a musical. A musical is a told through a play PLUS singing songs that help to tell the story. In musicals, there is often dancing as well, to help tell the story.
