Week of May 11-15: Tuneful Tuesday #5

Hello everyone!

Our learning continues in learning about orchestral instruments for K-1 and ukulele studies for grades 2-4.
Remember, our new learning is based on learning from prior weeks. Check out the earlier music weeks if you missed anything :-).

Also, don't forget to check out the Sweet Treats, as well! They are for all ages and can be done whenever you want :-).

If you hav anything special that you would like to share, please let me know! We have so many talented young musicians and artists at UES, and I would love to share what YOU are doing at home!

And, remember that Tuneful Tuesdays are also Music Office Hours! See you there?

This week's activities are below:

Grades K, 1 The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra game is HERE
- Today we are learning about instruments in the Percussion Family, and Unlocking the Garage with what we know about the orchestra!

This week's tutorial video can be found HERE
Then, name three instruments that you learned about today- you can tell a person at home, or you can tell one of your stuffed animals, or you can tell me during office hours today (with your adult's permission, of course).

Barefoot Books: Books that tells stories through fabulous music and artwork. There is sure to be a new favorite just waiting for you here! The link is HERE

Google Doodle: Johann Sebastian Bach was a very famous composer, who lived in a family of musicians. Bach was well-known for his "inventions" on melodies, by just adding a few notes to create harmonies. The link is HERE

* Think of melody as a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and harmony like the things you add to make your scoop of ice cream into a sundae.*

This Doodle allows you to write a harmony to one of his melodies. When you are done, you can save and share if you wish!

The game is at the very top of the page, and a story about Bach (called a biography or bio) is underneath. Enjoy!
