Week of May 4-10: Tuneful Tuesday #4

Hello everyone! Make sure you are getting outside and enjoying this beautiful weather. And when you are done, come make some music with me!

Some of this week's music activities will continue the work of prior weeks. If you think you might have missed a prior activity, please use the labels "Music" or "Tuneful Tuesday" to help you find just the music blog posts, and you can access everything from there.

I also have some fun and engaging music learning opportunities that are stand-along activities. Look for the section labeled For All Grades. I'll update this weekly with fresh activities for all ages.

Office hours are now on Tuesdays from 11 am- 1pm, and you can talk directly with me through Google Meet, and HERE is the link. (It's also at the top of the page, too!). You can stop in to introduce yourself, sing me a song, show me something musical or has a cool sound from your house. Just make sure your parents know you are signing into Google Meets first!!

All activities for today are below. Enjoy!

C, G, and F Chords, Strumming Patterns

Remember, there is going to be a lot here. Only do what you feel comfortable doing, at the speed you feel good at.

Keep working on C and G.

When you think you are ready, alternate between the two chords in a slow and steady way.
My favorite- 3 strums on C, one beat to change to G, 3 strums on G, one beat to change to C, and repeat, ending on C.

If you are ready for a third chord, here's F chord (fingering chart HERE).

And a strumming video, try out the first two patterns:
- down down down down
- down up down up down up down up

For all grades: A Sound Scavenger Hunt

You love to be outside, right? So many sights and sounds in our great big world! Feel free to use one (or all!) these charts to help you focus your listening skills, and let's hear what you find! Feel free to make your own scavenger hunt, and share it with me! Below each image is a link to the page you can print. Enjoy!

Sweet Treat #1: A wonderful collection of folk songs/ tales/ games, many of which you have done with Mrs. LaFleur and many of which I teach when I am in the same classroom space as my students! I love this collection, and Jill Trinka is a fabulous musician. Enjoy this stream!

Sweet Treat #2: Google has been sharing links to some of their most popular Doodles (many of which are interactive games). Check this one out about the theremin, the grandparent to today's electronic instruments, invented by Clara Rockmore.
