Week of May 25-29: Tuneful Tuesday #7

Awesome Owls Making Music at Home:

It was wonderful to showcase Adim, Ira, and Colette in last week's Awesome Owls Making Music at Home!

If you would like to be featured being a tuneful, beatful, artful musician or music lover: Share what you are doing with me, and I'll share it here!

Our adventures continue with The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (String Savannah) and moving ahead in Ukulele Studies (A minor chord, some new tunes).

Today's activities are posted below. Enjoy!

Grades K, 1

We are learning so much about the "wild" orchestra! Did you survive Woodwind Pond? Did you want to jump in and swim?

We are continuing to collect instruments from the wild! This week we are collecting strings from String Savannah.

How fast can you go? Want to challenge Mrs. Clayton to a speed & accuracy contest? Come find me at today's Office Hours.

Grades 2, 3, 4

How are the songs going, after two weeks work on them? I'd love to have you pop by and have you play one (or all!) for me. Come find me at Office Hours today and share something.

If you are feeling really good about how you are doing, go ahead and try some of these other songs, listed from easier to more challenging.
I am also introducing a new chord, which will open up quite a bit more selections of songs.
* Remember: slow and steady wins the race... fast and wrong will not correct itself. Take your time and enjoy!

Taps: Memorial Day was yesterday, and it's a time for us to remember those who came before us, and put their lives in danger so that we can life a safer, happier life. One important piece of music that is often played during Memorial Day observances is called Taps. It's traditionally played by two brass instruments (typically bugles or trumpets) and they echo each other across a space (such as a graveyard or a large field). The link for a recent recording with a patriotic slideshow is HERE.
