Week of May 18-22, Tuneful Tuesday #6

Awesome Owls Making Music at Home:

Adim from Grade 2 has been focused on building piano skills: Here is a fine example of 4 hands piano (the other two hands belonging to mom, Olga). Beauty and the Beast

Ira and Collette have used this time to bond with their great-aunt, who is a piano teacher out of state. Here are some images of them in action. Ira at the piano   Collette at the piano

If you would like to be featured being a tuneful, beatful, artful musician or music lover: Share what you are doing with me, and I'll share it here!

Music activities for this week are below. Enjoy!!

Grades K, 1

We are learning so much about the "wild" orchestra! How did the garage unlocking go? What has been your favorite instrument so far?

Now, it's time to start collecting instruments from the wild! This week we are collecting woodwinds at Woodwind Pond.

Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra game: link HERE

This week's tutorial video: link HERE

We have focused alot on how others make music on instruments. Here is a chance for you to make music yourself with a really fun song, Bim Bum Biddy Biddy Bum. One of the goals of this song is to see how fast you can go and still keep the pattern and sing the song.
- How fast can Mrs. Clayton do the pattern? Let's check out the tutorial video and find out.
- Then, it's your turn! The link for the song is HERE.

Grades 2, 3, 4

Continue your efforts on your groups of songs that were posted last week. HERE is the link to last week's lesson.

If you are feeling really good about how you are doing, go ahead and move on to the second and third verses of the songs, and here is a short list of other songs to try. Try one, try them all, but remember to be consistent in your playing so you can play in a relaxed way, and not have to think too hard while you play.

Sweet Treats

"1812 Overture" Flashmob: Memorial Day is coming up, and it's a time for us to remember those who came before us, and put their lives in danger so that we can life a safer, happier life. One big piece of music that is often played during Memorial Day, Independence Day, and other events is the "1812 Overture." This particular orchestra piece is being played as a flashmob. A flashmob is a planned performance that only the performers (and possibly the location) know about, but the people already there have no idea until it happens! Enjoy this particular flash mob HERE.

"Moldau," Symphonic Poem: If you are looking for something a little more calm, check out this orchestra piece! The style of music is symphonic poem , which means that the music is telling a story using the timbres/ colors of the instruments and not using words. How many instruments can you identify? Which ones are your favorites? Check out this amazing piece HERE.
